Thank you father for the sweet promise found in Zechariah 1:3 that if we return to you, you will return to us. You have chosen to deal with us differently than the ancestors of the people who came back from exile. You have chosen to pour out grace upon us through the death and resurrection of your son, Jesus. We thank you that, through Him, you have stretched out the measuring line of protection over your people. We ask that, just like Joshua the high priest was given clean garments to represent the future forgiveness of sins, that you would cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We pray that we would not rely on our own might or power for this, but that we would be completely dependent on your Spirit to transform us. We thank you that you are a God who loves to shower His people with grace and mercy. We, just like the Israelites, do not deserve this because of our constant rebellion, but you give it anyway because it is a part of who you are. Thank you for your faithfulness to pursue us. Help us become people who are faithful to pursue you. Amen.
