Lord,
Forgive us of our idol worship. Forgive us of our infidelity towards you. Forgive us for allowing flesh to rule us at times; neglecting your teachings and the convictions of your spirit.
Through our weakness, you are made strong. So, strengthen us as we fall on our face in repentance; as we acknowledge our faults and failures. We are nothing without you, Lord. We can do nothing without you. Your holiness is our motivation! Your glory is our aim!
Thank you for the promise to reestablish your people despite their sin against you. Open our eyes to see the ancients and ourselves as one. We sit on thrones of hindsight that allow us to claim, “Oh, I would know better!” How false we are! Humble our hearts and reveal to us that we are just as guilty! Just as needy!
Let us not diminish the need for Christ’s blood through our false assuredness and pride!
