Scripture

When I pray to God, it sometimes feels like he is ignoring me. I know that He doesn’t, but sometimes it feels that way. If you know me, you know that there are two things that really offend me. The first one is when someone lies to me. There is no bigger insult in the world. The second one is when someone ignores me. It makes my blood boil, makes me feel small, and as if I don’t exist. If you do any of these things, you are dead to me! You can move to the other side of the world and I’ll be fine. I’m kidding, if you do, I will forgive you, eventually.

In today’s scripture, we find David crying out for help. He claims that if only God were to hear him and see him, he would be delivered. David constantly calls out to the Lord asking Him not to turn a deaf ear. To hear him and send mercy. If God does not see him, he will go down to the pit. Thankfully, David does not have a God who ignores him, but rather one who sees him and acknowledges him. Promptly, David is singing out praises and proclaims God’s majesty.

I believe there is something inside each and every one of us that desires to be seen, heard, and acknowledged. If you search to fulfill that need in other people, you will be disappointed. The only one who can truly hear you and see you is God. He knows your inner being through the Holy Spirit. There is nothing you need to hold back from God (Psalm 32:1-5). If you cry out to God, He listens. I love that in Psalm 28 David is asking God to hear him, in Psalm 29 he describes what the voice of God is like. It’s as if he is learning while he is writing. In Psalm 30, David is proclaiming deliverance. God’s response might not be immediate, but He responds. We do not have a God who ignores us, but we have a God who sees us, hears us, and understands us.

CLOSING PRAYER
God, thank You for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for Your blood that has paid my ransom. Help me to see sin for what it is and where it leads. I commit myself to Your righteousness even in the places I feel hesitant to lay at Your feet. Your ways are higher, and I trust what You say.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
