Scripture
When Anna and I first got married we had no money. Correction: We had negative money. Bills were piling up, stress was settling in, and the final straw was the head gasket blowing on my old Ford. Leave it to a Ford to ruin the day. We were down to one vehicle and counting change to buy a five-dollar Hot and Ready, dreaming of the day we could add crazy bread! I remember waking up during these times and all my prayers revolved around, “Lord, I don’t know what to do. Can you help me?”
In Numbers 11 Moses is faced with 600,000 starving troops and a leadership team in turmoil. The Lord tells Moses to gather a team of seventy elders and declare to the people, “Purify yourselves, tomorrow you will have meat to eat. But Moses fires back at the Lord, “There are 600,000 foot soldiers here with me, and yet you say, “I will give them meat for a whole month! Even if we butchered all our flocks and herds, would that satisfy them? Even if we caught all the fish in the sea, would that be enough?” The “Cunningham Translation” would read, “God, we can’t even afford the crazy bread. How on earth are we going to a steakhouse for Valentine’s?”
I love God’s response in Numbers 11:23, “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”
What a line, Has my arm lost its power? I don’t know what you’re going through at the moment. You might be in a season of no crazy bread, or things could be much worse. Whatever it is, here’s what I know for certain: God’s arm is just as powerful today as it was for the children of Israel. The same God who parted the sea, fed the multitudes, and raised the dead, is flexing His arm for you right now while asking the question, “Do you think I’ve lost it?”
Be encouraged today. Our God is still jacked, and He’s on our side. Nothing is too much for Him. As Peter so brilliantly said in 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares for you.” His arms can handle it.
Prayer
HONOR GOD
John 3:16 NIV
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God has given us new life in Christ. Take a moment and thank Him for this incredible gift!
ASK GOD
John 3:21 NIV
But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Living by truth brings light and sight. Ask God to give you a heart for His truth. What do you need to confess to Him? Where do you need His help?
SUBMIT TO GOD
John 3:18 NIV
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Submit your heart to God today and live free of condemnation!
CLOSING PRAYER
Lord, you are gracious. You’ve given me life. You’ve redeemed my soul, and given me power through the Holy Spirit. Help me to live like you today. In Jesus Name, Amen!
