Father, we pray today for the unity of your spirit to thrive within our church fellowship, as Paul prayed for the Corinthian church’s unity.  We ask you to guard us against attacks of selfish ambition and pride.  Protect us from the dangers to our church’s witness posed by factions, gossip, bickering, pettiness, and contests of will.  Search our hearts individually and show us any faults or shortcomings that would threaten your desire for spirit-filled harmony among your body.  Then may our fellowship and our relationships with our leaders and with one another produce peace, love, joy, and all of the fruits of your Spirit!  To that end, may those in the community around us recognize your character revealed in our fellowship, drawing many into your irresistible presence.  Thank you for the gift of your Spirit!  Amen.
