Almighty God,
We come to you today in prayer, grateful for your love and mercy. We remember the words of Ezekiel, who taught us that you are a God who “does not delight in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live” (Ezekiel 18:23).
We confess that we have been people who have done wrong. We have turned our backs on your commands and have lived according to our own desires. We have sinned against you, and we deserve your punishment.
But we also know that you are a God of love and mercy. You are slow to anger and abounding in love. You are the God who forgives our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness (Ezekiel 33:11).
We thank you for your great love and mercy. We trust in your promises, and we believe that you will bring us to a place of hope and restoration.
We are grateful for the many blessings you have given us, including our health, our families, and our friends. We are grateful for the roof over our heads, the food on our table, and the clothes on our backs. We are grateful for the opportunities you have given us to learn and grow.
We pray that you will help us to live our lives according to your will. We pray that you would give us the strength to resist temptation and to do what is right. We pray that you would help us to forgive those who have wronged us and to love our enemies.
We pray for the peace of our world, and for the unity of your people. We pray for the day when all of your children will be gathered together in your love.
We pray all of this in Jesus’ name, Amen!
