Father, let my heart be more like David’s. Help me to cry out whenever I am in need. Do not let my mind wander through worry, anxiety, or anger. Instead, immediately fix my heart for you. Let my mouth sing words of praise, not doubt. Let my hands be lifted in expectation not down at my side in apathy. Even though my troubles are not the same troubles that David had, you do not act based on the intensity of our troubles. You are with us, always. You God, are worthy of all praise and David helps us to see that.

Let my heart become more like David’s, Lord. What are we humans that you should notice us? How can we expect to call on the name of God? Yet, this is the very thing you desire from us. You want us to call upon your name. You want us to reach out in times of trouble. Not just because you are the only true source of hope, but because you love us. You desire to commune with us. David knew this. Help my heart to know this, too.
