Lord,

Thank you, Lord, for the psalms. Thank you that we have the outpourings of David’s heart written down for us to review. I know I would be nervous and perhaps embarrassed to share the outpourings of my heart for the world to see, but seeing David’s prayers is uplifting, reassuring, and humbling.

His prayers are uplifting because they remind me of your strength. Your strength, Lord, is mightier than anything created by the hands of man. Nothing can come against your power and strength.

His prayers are reassuring, because I know you are the same then, now, and will be. I can rely on you, Lord, because you are the same God in the bible as you are now. You are not affected by time. You do not grow tired as we grow tired. You are a constant in the lives of inconsistent people.

And finally, his prayers are hu,bing because I realize, though my problems are real, I have never had to pray against people attempting to take my life. The problems David faced seem so much greater than all of my problems, so it is humbling to read them and then reflect upon my own problems. Yet, you still care. You still desire to commune with me and hear the outcry of my heart. May my mouth never be halted from shouting your praises, Lord.

Amen
