WORSHIP

SCRIPTURE

If you were a child of the 80’s as I was, you may remember the “Book It” program. It was a program sponsored by Pizza Hut where each time a child read a book, they earned a star which ultimately ended in you getting free pizza. It was my earliest memory of being coerced into reading a book. Pizza was the goal for me, not reading the book. I knew that if I read the books a personal pan size pepperoni pizza was in the cards for me.

As my life progressed and I matured I eventually didn’t have to be bribed into reading. I fell in love with fantasy books like “The Hobbit” and “Lord of the Rings”. I grew to appreciate the imagery that books offered that movies did not. Books allowed me to imagine the world that was being described to me instead of a screen showing me just as it was. The book is always better than the movie!

As I read Revelation chapter 4 today I couldn’t help but think of this analogy. John’s description of what he saw around the throne in heaven is truly amazing. We obviously don’t get to see the actual vision that John saw and experienced, but we can relive it through the written words. The imagery of worship that was taking place around the throne in chapter 4 is incredible. Of all of the descriptions from the living creatures, to the elders, the thing that stuck out to me most were the sounds I envision coming from the worship taking place. “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty, who was, and is, and is to come”. Day and night they never stopped-what an incredible sight to behold.

Thank God that we have the ability to recapture a moment through written words and that those written words come to life like no other!

PRAYER

HONOR GOD

God is more concerned with your willingness to glorify Him than what you have to offer Him. Will you honor Him, now, with what you have? Take a moment and give Him your best praise in prayer.

ASK GOD

God is ready to meet you in your time of need. Where do you need God’s grace?

SUBMIT TO GOD

CLOSING PRAYER

Father, help me to cling to your promises for they are the realest thing I have. They are true and everlasting. Do not allow me to give up your promises for simple earthly pleasures or moments of weakness. Keep me from the temptations of the enemy and may your Holy Spirit guide me in my walk each and everyday.
