Worship
Scripture
I’m a routine guy. Each night before bed, I set myself up for the next morning. I get my and Bree’s coffee cups ready, my energy drink mixed and put in the fridge, and my breakfast and lunch stacked neatly next to it. This isn’t because I’m overly organized. It’s because when I wake up I want everything to be ready to go. I want to be able to spend those few precious minutes in the morning with Bree and Heze, not making lunch and trying to figure out where my thermos is. I like being ready to go.
That’s why I feel like I would have done a good job as one of the Levitical priests. Again, not because I’m super spiritual or worthy, but because I am a routine guy. I would be good at ensuring everything was ready to go for the next day or sacrifices. Cleaning the blood, keeping records, and emptying the ashes from the brazier.
However, despite the idea that I believe I would be good at this job, I am so thankful we do not have to worship this way anymore. There are some mornings when I wake up and know I need to do something. Not make copies before work. Not make a sandwich for lunch. Not even worry about returning a package because it’s the last day to do so. There are some mornings where I have an overwhelming feeling to do one thing: worship. I make my way quietly into our studio; careful not to wake Bree or Heze, I put my earbuds in, and just worship. Nothing could be more satisfying to our souls than worshiping. Nothing gets my priorities straight like worship. Nothing washes away anxiety like worship. That’s how I know that no matter what is going on that day, the best way to spend the first moments of the day is with worship. Attuning myself to God assures me that I am attuned the right way to face the rest of my day in a Christ-like fashion.

CLOSING PRAYER
Father, we know you are in control. Thank you that we can trust in your power and your word. Help us to recognize the magicians and illusions of this world that will attempt to distract us from your power. May your Holy Spirit lead us through conviction and encouragement to trust in your holy word. In Jesus Name, Amen.
