Scripture

As we grow older we come to a point in life where we finally realize the lessons that our parents taught us growing up were for a reason. We finally find value in those lessons due to our own experiences in life. I will always remember my mom telling me that one day you will have children of your own and will understand what I’m trying to tell you-boy has that turned out to be true! I find myself telling my daughter that on a regular basis and one day I know she will look back and remember the words that I spoke and see them to be true.

Jesus did the same thing with his disciples. Time and time again he taught them, even explaining exactly how things were going to go down and they still didn’t get it right away. In Luke chapter 24 a group of Jesus’ followers go to the tomb to care for his body planning to find him still there, but instead find his body gone and two men standing there waiting to remind them of what Jesus had told them before. Luke 24:5-7 says, “And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

What can we take from this? God’s promises are true. He lays it out for us in scripture and through the Holy Spirit. Thank God for his patience because like our children, we don’t always get it on the first try, but he will always be there waiting for us to realize the promise in our own time-with open arms.

Prayer

HONOR GOD

Romans11:33

Oh, the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!

In every instance that I do not have an answer, God does.

ASK GOD

Romans 8:32 NASB

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Surely the Lord is willing to grant us our very minor requests in comparison to the absolute best that Heaven has to offer; which He has already given us in His son Jesus!

SUBMIT TO GOD

Lamentations 3:24-25

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I wait for Him.” The Lord is good to those who await Him, To the person who seeks Him.

I chose to wait until God’s answer is clear, until His hand is present, until His peace is my guiding force. I trust in His goodness.

CLOSING PRAYER

Father, we know you are in control. Thank you that we can trust in your power and your word. Help us to recognize the magicians and illusions of this world that will attempt to distract us from your power. May your Holy Spirit lead us through conviction and encouragement to trust in your holy word.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
