Scripture
Every time I get the sniffles, it feels like a life and death situation! “The world is falling apart, I’m close to death and I can’t imagine the thought of being healthy ever again” sort of thing 🙂 Then, two days later when the headache is gone and the sore throat is better, I completely forget about the whole ordeal. Like it never happened. I move on with my life and forget the “agony” of the past. I am human, I forget easily. Unfortunately, the next time I’m faced with the flu, it all comes back to me! Suddenly I’m “thankful” for my health and I’m pleading with God to keep me well.
God knows I need reminders. Not just about the blessing of being healthy, but about who He is and what He has done! He works miracles and they’re all the rage for a week! Then, as time passes, I lose my faith as I forget. How can I fight against my nature to forget! I want to live as if I just witnessed a miracle, or just found salvation in Christ!
For the sake of my faith, I need to keep the Lord‘s goodness on my tongue. Not just for myself, but as today’s reading suggests, for the next generation. I want my son to be encouraged by the stories the Lord has built into my life, but how can he remember them if I don’t tell him in the first place!
Our relationship with God and all the history we’ve built with Him is a foundation for the future if we’re willing to share! But for some reason, we find ourselves uncomfortable talking about “spiritual” matters with our children, our family, and our community. As if the most wondrous thing we exist to experience is private or inappropriate. We keep it quiet and it is forgotten.
God calls us to share His miracles with the next generation! I think you’ve probably heard of this phenomenon before, it’s called a testimony! Sometimes we just need to remind ourselves of where we’ve come from and sometimes we need to hear where someone else has been! Today I encourage you to stir up that testimony and share it with those around you. Lest we forget what God has done for us and the weightiness of who He is.
Prayer
HONOR GOD
John 3:16 NIV
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God has given us new life in Christ. Take a moment and thank Him for this incredible gift!
ASK GOD
John 3:21 NIV
But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Living by truth brings light and sight. Ask God to give you a heart for His truth. What do you need to confess to Him? Where do you need His help?
SUBMIT TO GOD
John 3:18 NIV
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Submit your heart to God today and live free of condemnation!
CLOSING PRAYER
Lord, you are gracious. You’ve given me life. You’ve redeemed my soul, and given me power through the Holy Spirit. Help me to live like you today. In Jesus Name, Amen!
