Scripture

Since the beginning of time, stories have proven to be the most uninterrupted form of entertainment. We watch stories on TV at the movies, on our phones, or read about them in the most traditional form-a book. Many a campfire has had stories told around it, some true and some not true. Stories have been told to entertain, to educate, and even to record history. It was quite common before written language for families and people groups to record their history orally by storytelling.

The Bible is full of stories. Stories of recorded history, stories of genealogies, stories of failure and redemption, but most of all stories of God’s glory and the many things he has done throughout his interaction with mankind. In 1 Chronicles chapter 16, David has brought the ark of the covenant back to reside with the people of Israel and in doing so there is a large celebration as a result. David gave instructions on how to praise the Lord as they celebrated. What was the common theme? Remember the things that God had done.

David literally praises God by telling the story of the things he had done, remembering the covenant God had made with his people. In the same way we should tell the stories of what God has done in our lives. Not just to proclaim his name to those around us, but to also REMEMBER and not forget what he has done for us, our children, and our children’s children. May we never forget to tell the story of his glory.

Prayer

HONOR GOD

Let the entire universe erupt with praise to God. From nothing to something he spoke and created it all.

Psalms 148:5 TPT

All of creation praises the Lord for His goodness, so will I. When I need a miracle, He is still Creator, and able to bring something out of nothing!

ASK GOD

This is what the Lord God says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live.

Ezekiel 37:5

If God can give life to dry bones, surely he can resurrect hope into your lifeless situation! Ask him today to breathe on your life and look for the rattling of bones that is regeneration of hope through faith.

SUBMIT TO GOD

For whom the Lord loves He disciplines, Just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights.

Proverbs 3:12 NASB

Thank you Lord that you love me enough to not allow me to continue in error without calling me to your higher purpose for my life!

CLOSING PRAYER

God, thank You for Your mercy! Thank You for the blood of Jesus that covers me and saves me from destruction. Help me to see this world and keep my heart from following in its ways. Only You are worthy of my obedience and submission. I worship You alone and choose to honor You as I pursue holiness in my daily life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
