Scripture

The verses today hit close to home. In the Bible, some people had to wait a long time to receive what they desired. Imagine that Abraham and Sarah had to wait about 100 years before they received the desires of their heart. That’s kind of how I felt when I first got called to ministry, or when I was waiting to find out who my beautiful wife was going to be. All I could think of was: when is this going to happen? or who could this person be? I didn’t know, but God did. We all know a little about what it feels like to wait for the Lord to move. For God to heal, provide a job opportunity, or release from bondage. I know I’m still waiting for some things myself.

Deuteronomy says that the Lord has placed life and death, blessings and curses before us. But guess what, it gives us the option to choose the one we want, and it also tells us what to choose. The better option is life! Choose it! Not only that, when we choose life the Lord will bring us back and there will be reconciliation.

Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.

Now, I’m not saying that if you choose to do the right things all the blessings that were promised will come instantaneously. We live in a broken world. But what if it is our disobedience that has been holding back the blessings that God so graciously wants to give us? The Israelites had to wait 40 more years to make it to the promised land because of their disobedience.

God just gave you the answer to the test. There is no way you can go wrong and say you didn’t know. You can either choose to fail or succeed. The best part is that there’s no way of choosing life and failing. Jesus paid it all. He is giving you life as a gift. All you have to do is receive it. If you’ve never decided to choose life, today is the day to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that you believe in Jesus Christ.

Prayer

HONOR GOD

At the end of the day, our most satisfying life is when God is most glorified. How can you glorify Him today?

ASK GOD

Healing comes by confession. Ask God to meet you through the confessions of your heart and heal you. What do you need to confess to Him?

SUBMIT TO GOD

Our God is unshakable! Commit your day to Him in reverence and awe!
CLOSING PRAYER
God, thank You for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for Your blood that has paid my ransom. Help me to see sin for what it is and where it leads. I commit myself to Your righteousness even in the places I feel hesitant to lay at Your feet. Your ways are higher, and I trust what You say.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
