Scripture
I played football in high school. I enjoyed the game, the camaraderie with teammates, and really enjoyed getting to take out some aggression on the opposing team. Friday night lights, the band, the cheerleaders and all the fanfare were great, but what I loved most of all was getting to put on the uniform.
Nothing felt better than wearing the jersey to school the day of the game, or suiting up in pads with your number on your jersey proudly on display. Even getting into a few newspaper photos-it was all about the uniform. I’ve heard people say, “look good, feel good” and when it came time to play the game it was “look good, play good”. The uniform set the team apart. We were different than everyone else. There was a certain level of status that came with putting it on. Same goes for police officers, nurses, doctors, and many other professions that wear uniforms. We know they are just different-set apart.
As I read today’s passage I couldn’t help but think that God created uniforms. He gave such specific instructions on how his priests would be clothed. The Bible says in Exodus 28:3 “Have them make garments for Aaron that will distinguish him as priest set apart for my service”.
As New Testament believers we can now enter the most holy place without the need for a priest. Jesus is our uniform. He has clothed us with his righteousness. Although we can’t see this uniform it is there and more powerful than any football jersey, nurses scrubs, or police uniform. The Holy Spirit is much more powerful than that and the status we have clothed in Jesus is the greatest and only status we need.

SUBMIT TO GOD
God, lead me to a closer and more intimate relationship with you. You are my one true blessing. You have been with me through ups and downs. Don’t let me make it about something else. It’s about you, God. In Jesus Name, Amen.
