Worship

Scripture

I once got the opportunity to speak to someone who was leading a massive ministry. At the time I was in the corporate world and getting ready to transition to full time ministry, but there was one thing that worried me. So I had to ask: “If I am in the corporate world now and the circle of people I’m around most of the time are Christians, how do you being a pastor and leading a church ever get time to spend time with people who don’t know Jesus yet?” His answer challenges us: “You have to be intentional about it, or it will never happen!” We can go to church on Sunday, bible study on Wednesday, hang out with church friends on Friday, and never be intentional about spending time with someone who doesn’t know Jesus.

I love the way Moses comes to Jethro, his father in law, and tells him all about what God had done. To which he responds in worship to the Lord. This is the perfect example of what it means to lead by example. God is calling the nation of Israel to become a kingdom of priests to the whole world. Even if the whole world is God’s, Israel will be his precious possesion through a covenant (10 commandments). When we think about priests and their function, one of them is to proclaim who God is. Israel has been given the special assignment of being testimonies and mediating God’s identity and grace to all of the nations. It’s not that God is greater that all the other gods, it’s that God is the One and only God.

In the same way, God has called us, through our relationship with Jesus Christ to be proclaimers of God’s testimony. To share what he has done in our lives. So that the people who are far from God might come close and expereicne His presence. Living a life ONLY surrounded by Christians is the equivalent of not being who God has called us to be. We are a kingdom of priests, God’s holy nation! Don’t let this week go by without scheduling coffee, hanging out, or inviting that friend to church you know is far from Him. All you have to do is share what God has done in your life!

Prayer

HONOR GOD

Psalm 121:8

The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time and forever.

My Protector and Defender is the Lord of angel armies, I will not submit to fear of opposition.

ASK GOD

James1:5

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

When I dont know the answer in my situation, God does and He is good enough to reveal his wisdom when we ask for it.

SUBMIT TO GOD

Malachi 3:10 NLT

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

Can we afford to offer just a tenth of our time, thought, money, energy to the Lord. He is ready and willing to abundantly bless the portion that we give to Him.

CLOSING PRAYER

Dear Lord and Savior of mankind, thank you for the Cross! Thank you for the Cross! Thank you for the Cross! Can we say it enough? Say it again: “Thank you for the Cross!”  In Jesus Name, Amen.
